ABOUT US

Our Mission

Our mission is to reach out and help our community by engaging at least 100 women to each contribute $100 on a quarterly basis. This adds up to $40,000+ annually and would go to local charities.

All charities and organizations up for consideration must be in the Sarnia-Lambton area serving Sarnia and Pt. Edward, Lambton Shores, Central Lambton, and the St. Clair River district.

The idea is to keep it local and have an impact that WE can SEE in our communities!

How We Work

  • Each Member commits to donating $100, four times a year. Meetings are diligently conducted in one hour or less.

  • Any member who has signed a Commitment Form and who is current with her donations may submit a Charity Nomination Form to nominate a Charitable organization for consideration at a meeting.

  • Each member may have five current nominations for different charities.

  • Nomination Forms must include the name of a current member who has agreed to nominate the organization.

  • Organizations under consideration must serve the Sarnia-Lambton area and provide individual tax receipts directly to contributing members in a timely manner.

Know More

  • Each member may have five current nominations for different programs/projects.
  • A representative for each of the three randomly chosen organizations will make a five minute presentation about the organization to the members and a Q&A session will follow.
  • Each member who has signed a Commitment Form and who is current with her donations may vote (by ballot) for one of the three organizations. Members must be present at the meeting to vote.
  • Each member will promptly (by the end of the business day on the Friday following the meeting) donate directly to the selected organization. Members who are unable to attend a meeting are expected to make their donation in this same time period. If this is not possible (e.g. you are out of country) please email us at womenwhocaresarnia@gmail.com to notify us.
  • Members who did not vote for the selected organization agree to make their donation regardless.
  • The selected organization receives a total donation based on the amount donated by the individual members.
  • The selected organization agrees to not use member information for any purpose other than issuing official donation tax receipts. Nor will they give member information to any third party.

  • A presenting organization, not selected at one meeting, will automatically go back into subsequent draws for the earlier of two years since their application was received or until they are voted as the successful recipient.

  • A successful organization is not eligible for future consideration for 3 years but the nominating member may choose to nominate other organizations. The exception to the three-year waiting period is a different program or project within an organization (for example, a specific department or program within a hospital).  They may be considered again after one year for a different program/project.

  • Each meeting will open with a five-minute update from the previous recipient outlining the use of our funds along with the impact our contribution made to their Charitable organization.

  • Ties, at meetings, will be decided by further votes. If a tie persists, the membership will vote to:

    • A) randomly select one of the tied organizations by draw, or

    • B) divide the group donation equally between the tied organizations.
